Breast Cancer Association Consortium (BCAC)

UCAM (participant 2) is responsible for BCAC. BCAC is a consortium of 45 breast cancer case-control studies that include >50,000 cases of breast cancer and >50,000 matched controls from all over the world. A detailed description is found at (http://www.srl.cam.ac.uk/consortia/bcac/index.html). BCAC has undertaken four rounds of genotyping.

These have led to the confirmation of five novel breast cancer loci identified through a genome wide scan and the identification of CASP8 D302H as a susceptibility allele, with papers in Nature, Nature Genetics and JNCI.
